Processes

Our fundamental process is the home-grown "seven-step" (in Sanskrit, saptapadi™ or सप्तपदी™) framework, defining how we Scope and Prepare, Translate and Produce, Assess, Deliver, Improve. This framework is the key to how we provide consistently superior service levels to our clients, and also defines the roles and responsibilities of our project teams.

To scope  means to define or clarify requirements; build the project schedule; create the project member matrix; work out the economics of the project; and identify risks and ways to mitigate them. This is the key role of a Project Manager.


To prepare  means to analyze the assets from both a linguistic and engineering standpoint; pre-process them, including applying translation memory; and developing glossaries, translation instructions, and other elements of the translation kit; and allocate/reserve project resources. This is the role of a Localisation Engineer, a Domain Specialist, and a Linguistic Expert.

To translate means to translate, edit, and proof the content. We boast qualified internal resources for the top Indian languages such as Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu, as well as a large pool of and external native-language resources. Depending on the requirements, such as education projects, an SME (subject matter expert) review might be included. We do back translation and back translation verification if necessary to meet statutory requirements or for additional quality control. For multimedia work, expert transcribers perform transcription in preparation for the translation. 

To produce means to post-process, recreate, and format the translated materials. For multimedia or audio/video work, we record, split, convert, filter and clean the audio. Most of the work is done in our state-of-the-art in-house studio. This work is the province of Localisation Engineers, DTP Specialists, Studio Managers, and Audio Engineers.

To assess  means to judge the quality of the translation and produce materials against industry standard quality frameworks, both to trigger rework if necessary and to collect quality statistics which are collated and aggregated for us to identify gaps in our processes and shortcomings in our resources. This work is carried out by our Language Excellence Group.

To deliver  means to provide the customer with the finished materials, through our customer portal, FTP or email as the case may be. Client comments and results of in-country and end-user review are incorporated into final deliveries as necessary based on our free 45-day warranty and rework policy.

To  improve  means to review our processes, outcomes, and quality via a post-mortem or post-project review process carried out on all projects.
